Farewell Mr. Tucker

This is a sad day indeed. My cat, Tucker, has been peeing all over the house and will not stop. My only option is to give him away. My dear friend Chris' mom has a barn with horses and other cats so Tucker is going to live there. He was an indoor/outdoor cat when he lived at my mom's house. When he came to my place in DC I had reservations about letting him go outside (traffic, homeless people, etc). I let him out last night and he stayed around the house. I feel bad giving him away but cat pee smells terrible and they usually never stop once they start.

I love you, buddy

Eastern Market & Restaurant Review

So one of my friends from HS just moved down the street from me and we decided to get some brunch and check out Eastern Market. We went to Matchbox for brunch. I LOVE matchbox pizza and salads and they are reasonably priced. The atmosphere is awesome as well.
The brunch menu was ok. I ended up getting this roll thing with eggs and sausage in it. It was good, but too heavy for my taste. They didn't really have anything that caught my eye. The bloody Mary was not very good either. So I'd probably give Matchbox's brunch menu 2 stars.

Eastern Market definitely made up for the lack of good brunch food. It was the first time I'd been there. I bought some peaches, green beans, cucumber, and an artichoke. And I found a gorgeous necklace. I love outdoor markets.

Here are some pics I took:

On Saturday we went to Alexandria because one of our friends from school just moved to the area. It was really fun. My friend Chris (far right) came down from the Baltimore area.

Hope you all have a good week!

Totally MIA

My lack of postings has made me a boring blogger. I know. I feel like everyone else has such great things to talk about. My life is just the same every day. Blah.

To change something I wrote on a previous blog...we will NOT I repeat NOT be staying at a nudist resort in Jamaica. The lady who has been helping us with our trip pulled some strings and we are going to be with the rest of the wedding. Pretty amazing! My roommate and I were jumping up and down when we found out the news. We are staying at the Breezes resort in Jamaica. All inclusive--drinks, food, room, airfaire, activities. It will end up being around 850 a person. That's pretty amazing if you ask me because I could easily spend 300 on drinks alone :-). I plan on going all out.

I have never been to a beach wedding so I am completely lost as to what I should wear. Obviously it's not fancy. I really LOVE yellow and want to wear something with yellow in it. I also don't want to spend a butload of money because I am flat broke. Any suggestions??

I"m really considering a career move. Oh wait, the economy sucks...scratch that. But I am honestly getting really tired of my job. I love the people that I work with and they are so appreciative of my work. I just feel like I'm underpaid for what I do. It can be a very boring job (a lot of data entry). I will probably only be here until July-ish because that will mark my 2 year anniversary. I want to do something where I interract with people more. Ugh, someday I'll like my job, someday.

So I mentioned that I'm completely broke, right? Well I think this is going to be my new lifestyle until I make more $$$. I live paycheck to paycheck. I haven't been drinking as much (good for my wallet and my body) and I also haven't been shopping as much. BUT I AM STILL BROKE! WTF?!?!?!? I end up tapping into my savings account each month transferring AT LEAST 300 to my checking....what the hell is wrong with me? I think I need a weekend job...again any suggestions?

Well now that I've sufficiently bitched throughout this whole blog, I'd like to say thanks to all of you that read my blog. My goal eventually is to get at least 25 followers. That will take much more dedication on my part I know. But I think I will eventually get there.

Much Love.

So I've been thinking...

I can't tell you guys enough how much I love reading people's blogs. Especially women my age living and making it in DC. It's so awesome to read people's blogs and relate to someone I don't even know. I wish that I was more creative with my blog and had a higher volume of readers. My lack of time and patience keeps me from getting to that goal. I need to clean up my blog a little. I want to change the layout (yellow being the prime color) and come up with more interesting things to write about. I also need to force myself to start taking more pictures of the random things I do to show you all. I have always had a digital camera, even though I always find a way to break them. However, I never take pictures. I usually just end up giving it to one of my friends when we go out so they can be in charge of photography. I enjoy photography and trying to be creative with my pictures. If I had the moola I'd totally take a photography class and buy one of those really expensive digital cameras. Someday people, someday.

So interesting news has come about in my life. I had mentioned that I'm going to Jamaica in November for a wedding. I'm going with my roomie and one of our best guy friends from school. He has agreed to pay for it in full so we can pay him back monthly (can't exactly write a check for 1,000 at the moment). Since the wedding is nearing and we were lazy about getting all our reservations confirmed, the hotel that everyone is staying at is totally booked. So guess where we have to stay? AT A NUDEST RESORT, clothing optional. It's a 5 minute walk from where everyone else is staying so at least we can hang out over there. But I'm still a little weirded out by this. It will definitely be an experience to say the least.

It's a rainy day here in the nationas capital (hah I feel like that's something a weather man would say). Thankfully it's Thursday and the weekend is almost here. I don't have any plans this weekend which is awesome. I need to take some heels to get fixed and take some stuff to dry cleaning but that's about it.

This is completely random but I want to make a shout out to some blogs I check up on daily:

Absolut(ly) Fit- She is awesome and leaves me comments :-). Very motivational. Check out her blog you will be amazed by how much running she does

Capitol Hill Style- The title basically sums up why I like it. I like in Cap Hill and need to stay updated on current fashion trends.

Life in Pink- Heidi is someone you can totally relate to. And she just got hitched! Check out her blog and congratulate her!

Liz in DC- I just started reading her blog and love it. She is very creative and relateable!

Happy almost weekend!

Missing in action

I know I know....It's been a gazillion days since I've posted. I've been really busy! I went to OC for labor day weekend which was a blast. It was great to have one last beach weekend with school friends before the summer is over. I cannot believe it is already the middle of September. My brother turned 14 on September 12 so I came home for the evening to go out to dinner with the fam.

I got him this shirt:

Love that kid :-)

I went to a crab feast in Annapolis with a fraternity from my school on Satuday it was a lot of fun. I didn't have crabs AT ALL this summer so I was glad to have some at least once.

my pledge Mom, college roomie, and me at the crab feast...it was at an Alumni's house which was beautiful!

My camera also broke at the crab feast...well sort of. I dropped it (surprise surprise) so the screen has an annoying red tint to it when you go to review pictures. They show up fine on the computer, but the red factor is extremely annoying to me. I bought a new camera which I am not very happy with. The quality isn't nearly as good as my broken camera. I'm taking the broken one to the place my mom bought it to see if they can possibly fix it.

Shots with new camera:

My cat, Tucker!

My wittle Millie :-)

And how about them SKINS? Haha, I knew they'd lose to the Giants. I came home this week to watch my brother and pets while my mom is on vacay. So I took my brother to Bethesda to get some wings and beer (well I had beer, he had coke) to watch the Skins Giants game. He is a hardcore Giants fan, so it was fun.

SKINS!

Can you believe Kanye?!? I don't want to go into this but what a jerk. Taylor held her composure and Beyonce proved that she is a class act. I am never buying a Kanye song again.

Housewarming Party

So this past weekend was the housewarming party that my roommates and I were soooo excited for! We spent the whole day on Saturday cleaning the house to make sure it looked nice for our guests. Everyone loved the place and it was great to see everyone. Me, Britt, and Jess (roomies) all got too drunk and I made a fool out of myself in front of my best guy friend, Chris. We've been best friends since I was 19 (so 4 years). I had a major crush on him for the first 2 years of our friendship but that finally dissolved. However...alcohol made me act stupid. I'm not going into the details because I've replayed them over and over in my mind too many times....but I am SO embarrased and hope I didn't do anything to ruin our friendship because I really do value it and care for him. He is leaving for the Navy SEALS in October and this is the worst time this could have happened....advice?

Anyway...I made this 7 layer dip which was AMAZING and very easy. I would definitely recommend it.
People came over for a couple hours and had drinks and apps then we went to Capitol Lounge. It was a fun bar that I'd definitely recommend going to if you're ever in the area.
Happy Hump Day!!
PS....who else is loving the weather we are having here in DC?!?! I know I sure am!
